Branch is an international loan platform that is available in Nigeria, India, Kenya, Tanzania, the United States, and Mexico. They offer easy-to-access personal loans that do not require much documentation.

Since its creation, they have given over 15 million loans worth over $350 million. The Fintech platform has a long list of reputable investors that includes VISA and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). While Branch is an international lending platform, for this article we will be focusing on Branch Nigeria. Since they operate the same system everywhere, you can read and follow the steps irrespective of where you are.

The aim of this Fintech company is to give loans to deserving people worldwide even people with little to no credit history or savings. But they require permission from customers to scan their phone data in order to determine loan eligibility.

The following may be required before you can get a loan:

  1. Phone number or Facebook account
  2. Bank Verification Number (BVN)
  3. Bank account Number
  4. Permission to access phone data
  5. You should be using a bank supported by the platform

How to get a loan from Branch

Follow these steps to get a loan from Branch:

1. Download the app

The first step is to download the app. You can download it from Google play store using your android phone

2. Create an account

Once you have installed and launched the app, you will need to create an account. Do not forget to grant the app permissions to your phone. It is important if you want to get a loan. Creating an account is easy. Information that will be required includes: your personal details, phone number, and bank details

3. Apply for a loan

Once you have created your account and granted the app permission, you are ready to apply for a loan. Simply navigate to “My loan” page within the app, and you will see many options. Click on “Request loan” to submit your loan application.

4. Wait for loan

Once you have applied, you should wait for loan.  The loan application process may take up to 24 hours

If your bank is not listed, you will be unable to get loan. You need to have an account with one of the listed banks.

You can get a loan ranging from ₦ 1,000 to ₦ 200,000. However, you repay your loan in time, your loan offer may increase.

The interest rate depends on a lot of factors including repayment history. The interest rate is from 14% to 28% that is equivalent of 1% – 21% monthly interest rate.

The loan term ranges from 4 Weeks – 15 Months

Repayment of Branch loan

There are many options to repay loan. Very many options.  You can repay with your ATM debit card. If you are a GTBank customer, you can repay in app via USSD. And you can also repay with your account account number.

All you have to do is open the app. Navigate to “My loan.” Then click the “Tap to Pay” button. Next you select the amount you want to repay. And click continue. You will see a ‘Select Repayment Method’ screen. Select the payment method you want to use to repay loan and follow instruction.

Alternatively, you can repay loan with cash at any bank except GTBank using NIBSS e-BillsPay. All you have to do is visit the bank, pick up a deposit slip and use the information below:

Account name – BRANCH INC

Depositor’s phone number – number registered on Branch

Depositor’s name – your name

Amount – any amount you want to pay

Please note that an account number is not required for this payment and that a bank charge of ₦ 100 will apply. Please ensure that you collect a copy of your payment receipt (not teller) printed by the bank after successful payment.

Lastly, there is an auto-debit option. You can set it up.

The branch loan app is available for download at Google play store. Currently, the loan app is only available to android phones. There is no iOS, windows or blackberry app yet.
